Overview

The DAC40 is a four (4)-channel analog output module intended for high speed and arbitrary waveform generation for telephone, communications and controls applications.  Each channel is independent and capable of 50MHz waveform generation.

Special memories (SARAM) on the DAC40 allow the DSP to load waveform tables into memory for automatic playback independent of the DSP. The DSP simply loads a playback table into RAM after which it may be played back continuously at full rate.  The DSP may update the contents of the SARAM while playback is occurring without interrupting the current playback. It may bypass the SARAM and communicate directly with the DAC when necessary.

The DAC40 module plugs into the M62/67 PCI and cPCI base boards, with Texas Instruments C6701 166 MHz 32-bit floating-point DSP processor.
