SD16 Omnibus Module: 16-Channel Sigma-Delta Analog I/O

Overview

The SD16 module is intended for multichannel data acquisition and acoustic / audio analysis systems. It provides 16 channels each of 18-bit, 48 kHz sigma-delta A/D and D/A. Each channel contains an independent of sigma-delta A/D and D/A which eliminates the need for multiplexing, thus reducing data acquisition complexity and reducing errors from channel switching. The D/A channels also have output smoothing filters that help reconstruct the analog output. The inputs and outputs may be line-levels or +/- 10v, allowing the SD16 to be used in sensor data conversion or control for industrial applications.

The SD16 module control logic conveniently maps the A/D and D/A interface as a parallel interface, memory mapped register set easily accessed by the DSP.

The SD16 module plugs into the M62/67 PCI and cPCI base boards, with Texas Instruments C6701 166 MHz 32-bit floating-point DSP processor.
