FPGA PMC Board

FPGA DSP Board for Highly Parallel Processing in PMC Form-Factor

SigC641x PTMC board with signal processing FPGA and one C641x DSP shown.

The SigC641x-PMC contains a Spartan 3 FPGA with up to 30,000 logic cells providing highly parallel processing for:

  • front-end signal processing for IF/RF designs, for example software defined radio applications

  • highly parallel signal processing functions such as FFTs, filter banks, fast convolution and matched filtering

  • algorithm acceleration, including image, medical, and encryption applications

The board is available with a BLSP (Board Logic Support Package) license, which includes example XST projects, baseline Verilog source, and other items necessary to program the FPGA to meet application-specific requirements. The SigC641x board can also be configured with 1 to 8 Texas Instruments C641x series DSPs for additional processing performance. A DSP software support package is also available.

On the SigC641x board, the Spartan 3 FPGA is connected to the following high-speed busses:

  • external 48-bit signal access (via Mictor connectors)

  • PCI bus (32-bit, 33 MHz), available when used in PMC or PTMC sites

  • 32-bit access to 1 to 8 onboard Texas Instruments C641x DSPs (via HPI32 interface on the DSPs)

  • UTOPIA L1 and TDM buses available when used in a PICMG 2.15 compatible (PTMC) site

FPGA interfaces include:

  • PCI 32/33 interface, including backend interface to internal logic functions

  • access to Flash EEPROM

  • access to NAND Flash EEPROM

  • access to second Spartan 3 FPGA

  • HPI32 access to DSP farm (1 to 8 TI C641x devices)

  • access to front-panel LEDs and onboard 16-LED array

The SigC641x-PMC board provides a high-speed signal processing solution for a variety of platforms, including cPCI, VME, desktop PC, and stand-alone. It can also be used with a PC104+ adapter. Click here for detailed information on the SigC641x-PMC board.
