The SigC6201 board is a low-cost, high performance 'C6x DSP/analog I/O platform ideally suited for PC-based DSP development applications involving the C6x processor.

The SigC6201 design features a 200 MHz TMS320C6201 processor from Texas Instruments. This processor is the most powerful fixed-point DSP available today.  With its advanced VLIW CPU VelociTI™ architecture the device is capable of providing 400 instructions (mult/acc), using 200 MHz processor clock.   The device offers an extensive of set of memory and peripherals including 64k x 16 onchip SRAM, 16-bit host port interface, 2 multi-channel buffered serial ports (TI/E1 compatible), 4 channel DMA with boot-load option, and an advanced memory interface capable of directly supporting SDRAM, SBSRAM, and asynchronous SRAM memory types.

The mezzanine board interface enables adaptation of the SigC6201 to other applications. Available mezzanine boards enable adaptation of the SigC6201 to T1/E1 lines, to the H.100 (MVIP) bus, and to IP telephony equipment.

The SigC6201 provides a plug-n-play compatible PC interface that affords the processor access to existing host PC/I/O options.  It contains on-board power generation in order to create the 2.5/1.8 V and 3.3 V needed by the processor and immediate peripherals. See detailed data sheet for more information about power supplies and consumption.

The SigC6201 may be used either in a PCI-based personal computer system or in stand-alone mode. +5 volt and +12 volt power sources from a standard personal computer power supply are required to operate the board in stand-alone mode. The SigC6201 also provides stereo audio microphone inputs, line inputs, and line outputs through standard 3mm jacks.  A/D and D/A conversion is performed with a Crystal Semiconductor CS4231S stereo audio codec.

SigC6201 Software Support

The SigC6201 board is supported by Signalogic off-the-shelf DSP software products designed for C6x development with Win9x and Win ME PC-based TMS320C6x DSP/data acquisition boards, including:

Hypersignal®-Macro and Hypersignal-Acoustic software series, which offer a number of simulation and real-time instrument functions. Simulation functions include DSP and math functions, time domain display (including waterfall, contour, magnitude, unwrapped phase), difference equation, digital FIR and IIR filter design, sampling rate conversion, frequency zoom, wavelet transform, minimum phase calculation, and many more. Instrument functions include spectrum analyzer, digital oscilloscope, stimulus & response measurement, continuous signal generation, real-time "snap-in" filtering, continuous disk record and generate, and more.

DirectDSP is a Windows library which provides low-level and high-level calls for user-defined C/C++, Visual Basic, MATLAB®, or LabVIEW® programs. DirectDSP includes low-level SigC6201 board control functions such as reset/run/hold, register access, block memory transfer, DSP executable file download, etc. High-level functions include waveform file acquire/generate, continuous signal generation, and execution of any arbitrary Hypersignal DSP or math function. DirectDSP includes strip-chart recorder, digital oscilloscope and digital tape recorder demo program and source code examples.

The TMS320C6x Source Code Interface contains numerous C6x algorithms and functions in source and binary form, such as optimized FFTs, filters, matrix, transcendental, trig, signal manipulation function, SigC6201 board initialization and analog I/O examples, etc. These functions form the basis of higher-level software functions and instruments; modification can be used to customize Hypersignal or DirectDSP operation. User-defined C routine hooks are provided for real-time algorithm development. The C6x Source Code Interface can be used as a basic foundation for user-defined real-time DSP systems and products.
